Practical information

Location

Mandala House is located in the quiet village of Magoulades in northwest Corfu. We’re a 10-minute walk from Corfu Buddha Hall and about 50 minutes on foot to Arillas. By car, it’s just:

  • 10 minutes to Arillas and San Stefanos beaches
  • 15 minutes to Agios Georgios and Afionas
  • 10 minutes to Sidari town and shops

Getting here and getting around

Transport in Magoulades is tricky, so we strongly recommend renting a car or scooter to make the most of your stay.

  • There’s a daily Green Bus from Corfu Town to Arillas/Magoulades, and more frequent buses to and from Corfu town to Sidari.
  • Check the latest schedule here: Green Bus Timetable (Look for lines: Corfu–Sidari and Corfu–Arillas/Magoulades)

House facilities

  • Drinking water: The kitchen has an osmosis filter, so you’ll have fresh, clean water straight from the tap.
  • Writing spaces: Each bedroom has a writer’s desk, and the Olive Press features large tables for writing or group work.
  • Outdoor dining: There’s a spacious garden and courtyard with tables for shared meals and gatherings.
  • Yoga gear: 6 yoga mats and a range of floor cushions are available. We don’t currently provide other props.
  • Mosquito: Each room is equipped with nets, plug-in repellents, and natural mosquito coils for the garden.
  • Towels: Room towels are provided, along with a selection of beach towels and mats.
  • Laundry: A washing machine is available with a €5 donation to cover hot water and eco-friendly detergent.
  • Parking: There’s space for up to 3 cars beside the house. Please park mindfully in the village.

The Olive Press

Our stunning open-air workshop space, known as The Olive Press, is 7.5 x 9 metres and shaded from the sun (but not the rain).
It comfortably hosts up to 16 people for group workshops or 8 people for yoga.

Environmental ethos

We do our best to live lightly and invite you to join us in keeping Mandala as low-impact as possible.

  • Please avoid bringing excess plastic into the house and use the recycling and compost bins provided.
  • We are a meat-free kitchen — please don’t cook meat indoors.
  • Our water system is a soakaway, meaning everything goes straight back into the earth. Please only use organic and biodegradable toiletries.
  • We provide organic shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body wash in every bathroom.
  • Toilet paper can go directly into the toilet (yes, unlike most places in Greece!).

You’ll also find an abundance of beach mats and sarongs in the house — feel free to borrow what you need.

Extras and local tips

  • A bread van usually arrives around 12:30 each day, and a vegetable van comes through in summer.
  • You’ll find supermarkets in Sidari and Kavadades (Korfu Carne), and a Kostas Biomarket in summer.
  • The shared kitchen has space to store and prepare food, and the large garden table is open to everyone for meals or hanging out.
  • We provide mountain tea though you may wish to bring your favourite teas and coffee.

We can offer a welcome pack to make your arrival a little easier: Includes ingredients for a Greek salad, eggs, coffee and/or mountain tea — €25. Just let us know in advance if you’d like one.
