A Story From the Doctor's Wife

"It was my husband's home town (Antonio N. Nearly - Doctor in the city of Corfu).

Born and raised there with his family, or which was Nikolaou Kontou Iatrou's family (2nd generation) AND, Helen Bounia (from Ag. Panteleimona) (his parents).

There, in this house with the very beautiful view from the back, there is a large shed underneath and a separate smaller building next door, as a pharmacy of then. And, there was an oil refinery!

The doctor himself prescribed and sent medicines in powders, sometimes even from France and he was making them himself for the people (patients). They were not ready back then in commercial containers or bottles like today.

Back then, the doctors were very few and he had taken over the entire northern Complex. He had a horse-drawn cart and before that, just a horse with a saddle, visiting all the villages with a weekly schedule. As well, go this way and evening visits where there was a Need, in All Weather and Season (Trouble). He was a very nice man!

Back then, these roads were covered with dirt and stones (gobolada).

A lot of old stuff and photographs of the family as a History of that time are located at the People's Museum of Aharavi."
